Reference Images

As a 3D artist you work with reference images all the time. You get the latest masterpiece from a concept artist and have to bring preserve it's beauty while bringing it into the 3rd dimension.

That's why I've tried to make working with reference images as comfortable and flexible as possible. I've come up with the "Info-Slab". (At least that's the name until I come up with a better one...)

You can open as many Info-Slabs as you like, load in images, scale them and place them all over the scene.

But that's not all an Info-Slab can do... You can switch it to camera-mode and it will start showing a live-picture from a virtual camera that only renders the geometry in the scene. You can even switch it to orthographic mode and put up the classic top-view/side-view/front-view setup you have in every desktop 3d modeling app ever. Or you can set up a perspective camera that looks at the object from the same angle as the concept drawing and place them next to each other and always have the direct comparison. And I'm sure we could come up with many more ideas for what the info-slab could do?
